Hike The Big Moose Mountain Trail

The Moosehead Lake region has many hikes a vacationer can try. One easily accessible hike from Greenville, ME is the Big Moose Mountain Trail hike.

Big Moose Mountain Hike: Level of Difficulty

Big Moose Mountain is not the easiest hike. The hike starts off with a very shallow climb but quickly steepens. 20 to 30 minutes after starting, you know you’re hiking a mountain. This hike does require some fitness as there are sections that are relatively steep (not straight up a rock face steep, but a good strenuous on-trail climb). The first 500 feet of elevation cover the first mile of hiking, but the final 1400 vertical feet of the hike are completed in the last 1.3 miles. It’s a lung burner!
